Bruce Lee

El nombre más reconocido del mundo de las artes marciales fue Bruce Lee, y su nombre real era Lee Jun Fan. Lee se interesó superficialmente en muchas artes marciales, pero tuvo su primer entrenamiento real de Wing chun con el famoso maestro Yip Man. Más tarde, desarrolló el estilo de arte marcial de jeet kune do, “el camino de interceptar el puño”, luego de descubrir las limitaciones del wing chun clásico. Posteriormente abrió más de tres escuelas en distintas partes de Seattle y Los Ángeles, enseñando el jeet kune do.

Lee comenzó su carrera fílmica en los Estados Unidos como el asiático ayudante Kato en la serie de televisión El avispón verde (1966-7). Retornó a Hong Kong y continuó su carrera en las películas, ganando el estrellato y convirtiéndose en personaje de culto por sus actuaciones en Fists of Fury (1971), The Chinese Connection (1972), The Return of the Dragon (1973) y Enter the Dragon (1973).

En 1973, su muerte repentina y misteriosa a causa de una enfermedad cerebral, hizo que su popularidad se disparara hasta un estatus cercano al mito. Para la época de su muerte, Lee había elevado las películas de artes marciales a un nuevo nivel, y allanado el camino para futuras estrellas de la talla de Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chuck Norris y Steven Seagal.
