Ingeniería del Rally Mundial te sitúa en el asiento del conductor de este exclusivo ambiente, durante el más extremo y excitante Campeonato Mundial de Rally Automovilístico.

Discovery Channel acompaña al equipo internacional de rally Subaru y a su líder, Petter "Hollywood" Solberg, mientras lucha por el título 2006. Con imágenes exclusivas, esta serie de seis episodios brinda un acercamiento único al mundo de las competencias automovilísticas de gran presupuesto, siguiendo al equipo en cada movimiento que realiza durante la preparación de los automóviles, sus pruebas y controles minuciosos.

El desafío más importante fuera de los circuitos convencionales, el Campeonato Mundial de Rally, enfrenta a los vehículos de cuatro ruedas más potentes (en manos de algunos de los más prestigiosos conductores del mundo), con las condiciones de manejo más duras y variadas de todo el planeta. En una competencia que se desarrolla alrededor del mundo, estos pilotos manejan a través de pistas serpenteantes, carreteras llenas de baches, hielo sólido y aguas profundas a velocidades que exceden los 200 kilómetros por hora. En su lucha diaria, son respaldados por abnegados equipos de ingenieros y mecánicos, jefes de escudería que hablan sin rodeos y patrocinadores sedientos de gloria. Es, sin duda alguna, un ambiente de egos frágiles, grandes emociones y drama humano constante.

Para los miembros del equipo Subaru WRC, se despliega una montaña rusa de emociones tanto detrás de las cámaras como en las carreras del rally, a medida que se enfrentan a la peor temporada que han experimentado jamás. Inconvenientes de los pilotos, problemas mecánicos constantes y mala suerte son algunos de los factores que los mantienen luchando para conservar la calma. Ingeniería del Rally Mundial se une a ellos en cada paso del camino, mientras disfrutan de sus pequeños triunfos y enfrentan desilusiones que ponen realmente a prueba su resistencia.

Junto a la acción, se presenta una visión del diseño de los automóviles, su construcción, período de pruebas y puesta a punto para la carrera.
