Hércules

El fuerte y valiente Hércules, o Heracles, fue el más popular de todos los héroes griegos. Hijo de Zeus y Alcmena, una princesa micénica, Heracles fue atormentado a lo largo de su vida por la vengativa esposa de Zeus, Hera. Cuando ella logró sembrar un poco de locura en él, Heracles asesinó a su esposa e hijos. Desesperado por penitencia, se enfrentó a sus famosas 12 labores. Éstas involucraban destruir espantosas bestias o recuperar elusivos premios. Fue su fortaleza lo que llevó a los primeros cristianos a verlo como el precursor de Cristo. Heracles murió en agonía cuando su esposa le dio una túnica envenenada, creyendo que eso aseguraría su fidelidad. Una vez muerto, se elevó hasta el Monte Olimpo y se convirtió en dios.
